I’ve worked every kind of job in law enforcement, from entry-level to special agent to instructor. And in every role, one truth has held: people don’t trust a badge—they trust the person wearing it. You earn that trust through how you listen, how you treat people, and how you show up again and again.

In Lake County, trust in the Sheriff’s Office is fraying. Inside the department, favoritism and poor leadership have poisoned morale. In the community, many people feel the department is distant or politically motivated.

As Sheriff, I’ll work to restore that trust:

  • I’ll support law enforcement the right way, with clear standards, fair promotions, and accountability—not politics.

  • I’ll engage the community through school outreach, town halls, and presence across all parts of the county—not just where it’s convenient.

  • I’ll end the jail staffing crisis by listening to corrections staff, respecting their work, and making the Sheriff’s Office a place people want to stay.

Trust isn’t a given. It’s earned through how we lead.
